When Alison Barrington first gave her great
grandmother's candles as gifts, she had no idea the kind of effect that
the candles would have on the people of Port Charles. Two people in
particular were affected. Livvie Locke received the Trouble candle
which completely turned her against her former friend and set her on a path
of destruction vowing to get rid of anyone who stood in the way of what she
wanted. Frank Scanlon was affected by the lighting of the Desire candle,
causing him to drive away the woman he loved and become dark and brooding
as he had been during his addiction to DL-56. Two People ... Two Candles
... Two Lives Set On a Collision Course ...
Livvie's marriage with Rafe was put in danger when Alison emerged from her coma. Rafe was drawn to Livvie's nemesis by a force that Livvie couldn't control, but she did still have options. Frank was left alone after Karen chose to purse a relationship with Ricky. He threw himself into his work, and one night was approached by a spirit seeking justice ... and he became the Avatar. Livvie waited for her husband to come home one night, but as the hours grew later, she decided that she had to go look for him and keep him away from Alison. She went into the woods, making her way towards Alison's barn. She heard something behind her and panicked. The Avatar grabbed her and disappeared into the night. Livvie discovered who the Avatar was and blackmailed him into sleeping with her to give her a baby. Livvie was thrilled to find out she was pregnant, but as Rafe spoke of all the horrors that the Avatar was capable of, she panicked and tried to kill the baby by throwing herself down the stairs at GH. Later she found out that the baby was healthy and had been energized by her attempt to destroy it. She went to confront the Avatar who told her that she would have a "special" child with powers like that of the Avatar. Ian and Rafe hatched a plan to get rid of the Avatar, but Livvie warned him ....revealing for the first time that Frank was the Avatar. She asked him to leave town, but Frank warned her that his work wasn't finished in Port Charles. He also warned that Rafe would suffer for interfering in his work. Frank blackmailed Livvie into telling him about Rafe's plans to get rid of the Avatar. Despite how much information she would give him, he became more demanding and was adamant that he wasn't leaving Port Charles. Livvie figured out that Frank was staying in Port Charles because of Karen. He begcame enraged and warned her not to interfere where Karen was concerned. Livvie also warned Frank not to threaten her husband because she knew his secret and would tell all. They found themselves in a stalemate. They did at least until Rafe and Ian trapped the Avatar in an old silo. Livvie knocked Rafe out after Ian left and Frank demanded that Livvie release him. Instead she set the silo on fire. Her baby moved and caused her pain due to her actions. Karen saved Frank after she realized just who the Avatar was. Livvie thought the Avatar was dead, but Frank reavealed himself in a very public way and goaded Livvie by mentioning how she glowed with her pregnancy while she sat with Rafe. After Rafe left, Frank told Livvie that she was going to be on the receiving end of justice but she wouldn't know when it would come. He left with a parting shot....once more telling her how lovely she looked due to her pregnancy. Livvie decided that she had to get rid of Frank once and for all. Livvie contacted a drug dealer and received a very powerful hallucinogen. She filled a syringe and arranged for a meeting with Frank. Kevin got to Livvie's apartment first and she accidentally stabbed him with the drugs. Frank discovered what had happened and forced her to watch her confused father try to kill his own wife. Frank stopped Kevin but forced Livvie to make a choice....her father or her husband. Livvie chose her husband and Frank appreciated her choice. But he warned her never to betray him again.
